Kendrick Lamar is set to headline Glastonbury. The organizers were impressed with the American rapper after seeing him perform in London in February.
Previous Hip Hop artists to headline the annual open air event are JAY-Z in 2008 and Kanye West in 2015 respectively. Despite divided opinions on the said artists, organisers hope the reception would be different for Kendrick Lamar.
The event returns in the summer of 2019 following a year’s break and Sir Paul McCartney is also thought to have been given a top spot at the festival. He last played at the famous music event in 2004.
Kendrick’s fourth album, DAMN, hit No2 in the charts last year, while All The Stars, taken from the Black Panther soundtrack, reached No5 in January.
